Ride It #48931
05 July 2006 Somehow, Eugene was very impressed with my performance and decided to send me to attend the Class 2B Riding Course from 5.6.06 to 5.7.06 as an incentive. This decision was made because I already obtained my Class 3 Driving License before enlistment and the Class 2B Riding Permit will benefit my position as an 'Utility Officer' (Jack of All Trade). I am really grateful to Eugene for thinking so highly on me. I personally do not think that I am really as great as what he describe, so I hope I do not disappoint him.Class 2B Riding Course
The Class 2B Riding course gave me the rare opportunity to stay out for 1 month. In addition, my house is in close proximity to SAF Driving Circuit (SDC), which is located at Kaki Bukit. Having 2 direct bus (bus #8 and bus #21) are definitely a bonus.
Furthermore, learning how to ride a motorcycle on the road is a useful life skill and it is applicable for future civilian life, as it will be easier if I decided to go for civilian Class 2B Riding License classes and test. Plus, SAF Class 2B Riding course also include defensive riding and training to ride through muddy tracks, obstacles and through the jungle of Lorong Asrama.
It is an experience to ride my bike from Kaki Bukit to Pasir Ris Industrial Park and Pasir Ris Farmway. I also get to ride places that I never visited before, like Sembawang Park (via Hougang and Yishun). It is an adventure to ride on a long stretch of Pan Island Expressway (PIE) to West Coast Link heavy vehicle carpark, en route Science Centre, Jurong Town Hall and Pandan Reservoir. As my bike broke down at on my way back, I actually get to ride this route twice, meaning I get to eat the delicious ice kachang at Clementi N7 Food Centre twice.
Despite being only 1 month, this course is the happiest period of my NSF life so far. Furthermore, friends acquainted during the course are more true and sincere. This provides me with a breathing space from the complicated office politics in camp.
This period can also be labelled as one of my major turning point in life, because I also started to reconsider my future. Decision to resume writing this blog was also surfaced at this point of time.
