NTU Pre-Admission Medical Examination

20 April 2007

Finally, I went for my Pre-Admission Medical Examination on 20.4.07.

Journey to the West
As instructed by Joanne, I need to avoid the 9am morning jam into Nanyang Technological University (NTU), as most classes starts at 9am. Therefore, I left home at 9.50am and after a 10min wait, I boarded #293 to Tampines Central...

Upon standing at the platform (front of west-bound train) of Tampines MRT station, I saw the Moove Media cows at the open space in front of Blk 245. Creativity adds joy to my day. On my way, I spotted more cows at open patches near Paya Lebar, Jurong East and Chinese Garden MRT stations...

Finally, after an hour of train ride, I arrived at the temporary Boon Lay bus interchange. I transited to bus #179. On my way, I get to see the construction of Boon Lay MRT Extension, which is expected to be completed in 2009...

After a 20min ride on #179, I finally arrived at the bus stop outside NTU Innovation Centre. It is quite scary to think that I have to take this 2 hour ride from home to NTU for the next 4 years...

Pre-Admission Medical Examination
I followed Wei Zhen and Joanne's instructions to the Medical Centre. I walked up the slope to Canteen B and lost my way. Thanks to the staff at South Spine, I managed to find my way to the Medical Centre...

The medical examination cost $20 and took about 15mins. It is really a very brief medical examination comprising of eye test, urine test, doctor review and chest x-ray. The x-ray has to be done at Jurong Medical Centre Diagnosis Centre, which is located within Jurong West Community Building...

After the medical examination, I had my lunch at Canteen B. I took a light stroll around NTU before proceeding to Jurong Medical Centre for my chest x-ray...

unofficial Jurong 1 day tour
After everything is done, my highly anticipated unofficial "Jurong 1 day tour" kicks off. I started the tour by visiting Jurong West Community Library, which has been relocated from Jurong Point into Jurong West Community Building. Spanning 3 storeys, this library is very cosy, with a view towards the industrial area of Jurong.

Crossing Jurong West Central 3, I shopped at Jurong Point for a while, before boarding bus #198 to explore Boon Lay, Jurong West Neighbourhood (N5), Jurong West Neighbourhood (N4), Jurong East Neighbourhood (N3) and Jurong East Town Centre. Upon alighting bus #198, I visited Jurong Regional Library and Jurong Entertainment Centre, which brings back sweet memories of research at the temporary National Library and ice-skating.

Lastly, I took the train from Jurong East back to Boon Lay MRT station. This is to estimate a more accurate travelling time home...
