Staple
07 August 2007 "Staple" is the first assignment of the subject "3D Design & Volume". In fact, "Staple" is the very first assignment from my student life in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) School of Art, Design & Media (ADM). Starting from this post, I will be showcasing some of the works I have done in ADM. [Update: please visit http://www.boundlesspetrol.blogspot.com for my design portfolio.]"Staple" consists of 3 standalone artworks, namely: "Staple: 1min", "Staple: 10min" and "Staple: 12 staples".
For "Staple: 1min", the class was given 1 minute to complete the artwork. My work is very much experimental, as I am still relatively new to the school and I am unfamiliar with the subject.
Staple: 1min
Unlike the previous work, "Staple: 10min" allowed the class to complete the artwork within 10 minutes. With a much longer time limit, there was a greater tendency to overdo. This proved that more does not necessary means better.
Staple: 10min
"Staple: 12 staples" restricted the amount of staple to 12. Contradicting with "Staple: 10min", the final product of "Staple: 12 staple" is simple. yet elegant. This also proved that 'less is more' and 'simple is beautiful'.
Staple: 12 staples
After this assignment, I have a better insight to the subject and 3-Dimensional assignment.
[This project was submitted for "FDN130 3D Design and Volume Workshop 1" module during AY2007/2008 Semester 1 (ADM Year 1 Semester 1). "FDN130 3D Design and Volume Workshop 1" is a Foundation course offered by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) and was taught by Mr Christopher Toh.]
