ADM Mooncake Festival Party 2007
20 September 2007 20.9.07 is the last day of the term. It is also the day when ADM celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival with our very own "ADM Mooncake Festival Party". Group 8 (my class) decided to participate in this event to celebrate the completion of a term.Lack of Mid-Autumn Festival celebration in school
Although Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional festival, it is seldom celebrated in school. This is partly because Mid-Autumn Festival needs to be celebrated at night, which requires additional parental consent. There is also safety concern as lanterns catch fire easily. In addition, traditional festivals tends to be perceived as too cheena or boring in my schools.
However, as an art school, ADM is always different and ahead of the trend in organizing unconventional parties and celebration. Therefore, it has been our school's tradition to organize our own "ADM Mooncake Festival Party", "ADM Halloween Party", "ADM Valentine's Day", etc. every year.

Upon finishing our Western Art History make-up tutorial, Brian, Mimi, May, Wei Tyng, Wendy and I made our way from South Spine to ADM rooftop for the much anticipated "ADM Mooncake Festival Party 2007". Bryan, Willis and Candice could only joined us much later as they have to attend to something else.
Despite much publicity conducted prior to the event, "ADM Mooncake Festival Party 2007" was disappointing. There is no food, drinks, games or even an event host. Participants were expected to bring their own lanterns, mooncakes and to entertain themselves. There is no mooncake sponsored by any bakery. I think this is too ridiculous from the organising committee for this year's event.
Although disappointed, my class still had a fun time. We lighted up the traditional paper lanterns that Brian bought. With the lanterns, we took a stroll around the rooftop to reminisce our childhood (and to seek attention from our schoolmates with our lanterns). As it was very windy on the rooftop, candles were difficult to light and our lanterns caught fire easily. Brian's lantern was the first to be burnt. It is interesting that only half of the lantern was burnt and it remained functional. However, Brian needs to be more careful to prevent the candle from being blown off or a bigger fire would burn the lantern completely. Without fail, a new climax was reached whenever someone's lantern caught fire, and it was always accompanied by random loud screams and laughter.

With the arrival of Bryan and Willis, we get to eat the mooncakes Bryan bought. We also began to play silly nonsensical games. The 8 of us were so engrossed with these games that we couldn't stop laughing for the next few hours. Finally, when we were exhausted and bored, we decided to call Candice, who just finished her duty, to bring cardboards, so that we could slide down the rooftop.
Sliding down the roof of ADM
Soon, Candice appeared with the cardboards. We begin experimenting various methods to slide down the iconic steep rooftop of ADM. However, due to unknown technical constraints, the slide does not seem to work like how it did during our FOC. Eventually, we had to push ourselves down the slope manually with our hands in order to slide down. Therefore, Candice thinks of alternative positions. Finally, we decided on the idea of rolling down the slope... We even came up with the idea of a mini competition to identify who is the fastest to roll down the slope. Our actions attracted the attention from other bored schoolmates and passerbys (who must have think we are crazy). In the end, some of our schoolmates joined our competition.
My class played until around midnight, when we were really drained of energy. Finally, we left ADM and went home...
