SQ will not proceed with paper boxes for food on medium-haul and long-haul flights after feedback

Extracted from Today's article: "The airline will also bring back appetisers for economy class meals from June 1. These will be served with all economy class meals on medium-, long-haul and ultra-long haul trips – essentially any flight that is three-and-a-half hours and above. This is in addition to a bread roll, a main course, cheese and crackers, and a dessert.

Also from June 1, economy class passengers on short-haul flights of between one-and-a-half hours and three-and-a-half hours will receive bread rolls and butter. These will be served with a main course and a dessert.

Some other items that were removed from the meal tray during the pandemic for operational and supply chain reasons, as well as to reduce food waste, have also been restored. This includes cheese and crackers, and muffins for continental breakfasts."

Not sure of the recent quality (as I have not travelled since Nov 2018), but I do enjoyed my SQ in-flight meals in 2006-2018. Nevertheless, from reading the feedbacks in various platforms, it seems unanimous that the standard and quality of SQ in-flight meals had declined. if the photos and feedback are true, some of the meals indeed appear pathetic, unappetising and cheap. I personally really hate it when businesses do nonsenses to cut costs in the name of being 'environmentally-friendly', 'sustainable', 'reduce waste' (or any other fluff words) to make them appear holy, when the main intention is to cut cost. Nevertheless, it seems that SQ eventually succumbed to social media pressure to improve the meals. Hopefully this issue will be resolved before my upcoming flight in September.
