Geography Bishan District is located approximately 7km north of the City in the Central North Sub-Region, North Region.

Bishan District is bounded by the northern watershed of Lower Peirce Reservoir, Old Upper Thomson Road and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 to the north; Central Expressway (CTE) to the east; Braddell Road to the south; the eastern perimeter of the Central Water Catchment, the western perimeter of Island Golf Course and the western watershed of Lower Peirce Reservoir to the west.

Bishan District covers an area of approximately 1,160 hectares, ranking 19th among the 27 districts. Bishan District housed an estimated population of 112,123 residents as of June 2017, ranking 24th among the 27 districts. Bishan District has a population density of 9,664/km².

Division
Bishan District comprises 1 New Town (Bishan New Town) and 2 Estates (Sin Ming Estate and Thomson Estate).

Bishan New Town is divided into 7 neighbourhoods, namely Bishan Neighbourhood 1 (Bishan East), Bishan Neighbourhood 2 (Bishan North), Bishan Neighbourhood 3 (Shunfu), Bishan Neighbourhood 4 (Bishan West), Bishan Neighbourhood 5 (Bishan Central), Bishan Park and Bishan Depot.

Sin Ming Estate contains 1 neighbourhood (Sin Ming).

Thomson Estate contains 6 neighbourhoods, namely Thomson Rise, Pemimpin, Thomson Garden, Thomson Ridge, Windsor Park and Windsor Park Interim Green.

Bishan District also includes 1 Park (Lower Peirce Reservoir).

In total, Bishan District is sub-divided into 15 neighbourhoods.
