Geography
Serangoon District is located approximately 8km northeast of the City in the Northeast Sub-Region, East Region.

Serangoon District is bounded by Central Expressway (CTE), Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, Sungei Tongkang and Serangoon North Avenue 6 to the west; Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 to the north; Yio Chu Kang Road, Upper Serangoon Road and Upper Paya Lebar Road to the east; Bartley Road and Braddell Road to the south.

Serangoon District covers an area of approximately 701 hectares, ranking 26th among the 27 districts. Serangoon District housed an estimated population of 135,711 residents as of June 2017, ranking 20th among the 27 districts. Serangoon District has a population density of 19,360/km².

Division
Serangoon District comprises 1 New Town (Serangoon New Town) and 4 Estates (Serangoon Garden Estate, Braddell Heights Estate, Bartley Estate and Lorong Lew Lian Estate).

Serangoon New Town is divided into 5 neighbourhoods, namely Serangoon Neighbourhood 1 (Serangoon North), Serangoon Neighbourhood 2 (Serangoon Central), Serangoon Neighbourhood 3 (Serangoon West), Serangoon Neighbourhood 4 (Serangoon South) and Serangoon Neighbourhood 5 (Hwi Yoh).

Serangoon Garden Estate contains 4 neighbourhoods, namely Serangoon Garden East, Serangoon Garden West, Serangoon Garden Central and Serangoon Garden South.

Braddell Heights Estate contains 2 neighbourhoods, namely Braddell Heights and Lorong Chuan.

Bartley Estate contains 1 neighbourhood (Bartley).

Lorong Lew Lian Estate contains 1 neighbourhood (Lorong Lew Lian).

In total, Serangoon District is sub-divided into 13 neighbourhoods.
